Requesting on Behalf of Others
Some roles can submit requests for other people, not just for themselves:
- Request delegates submit on behalf of others as their main role in the portal.
- Managers can submit for people on their team, and for others in the organization.
- Administrators can submit for anyone in the organization.
If you only ever submit for yourself, you won't see these options — see Submitting a Request.
Choosing who the request is for
On the request form, the "Who is this request for?" picker is where you choose the person — that picker is the on-behalf-of step, and it only appears for roles that can request for others. Pick the person and their details fill in automatically; the rest of the form works exactly as described in Submitting a Request — the device options, upgrade eligibility, and shipping all follow the person you chose.
They must already be in the portal
You can only choose someone who's already set up in the portal. If the person isn't there yet, submit a technical support request asking an administrator to add them; once they're in, you can submit the request.
Keeping people informed
When you request for someone else, two options help you manage who hears about it:
- Notify the person the request is for — on by default, so they're kept in the loop on their own request. Turn it off if they already know and you don't want to fill their inbox.
- CC others by email — add anyone who should follow along (another manager, an assistant). They receive the request emails but don't need a portal account.
Tracking what you've submitted
Requests you submit for others appear in your requests list, each labeled with the person it's for. This is your working list for following submissions through to completion — see Tracking Your Requests.
